What is a Kettlebell?
The kettlebell, also known as a Girya, is a cannonball with a flat bottom and a handle molded to it. Unlike barbells or dumbbells, the weight of the kettlebell is distributed asymmetrically, creating a totally different style of training when compared to traditional weightlifting.
How is KettleBell Training Different?
Unlike the traditional lifts such as a Bench Press or Squat, kettlebell movements are very dynamic, explosive, and occur in multiple planes. Instead of focusing on a single plane of movement or isolating one or two muscles at a time, kettlebells force you to engage several muscles at once. Because it’s based on continuous motion, kettlebell training will also challenge your endurance and burn a ton of calories. Lastly, by performing movements that you’re not used to, you’ll enhance your flexibility, range of motion, coordination, and balance!
